Jr. Pee Wee Division Highlights
The undefeated Cardinal Spellman HS Spartans took on the feisty Middletown Animal Clinic Ramblers in an epic defensive battle, with the Spartans holding on for 6-0 victory. The Ramblers record didn’t keep then from playing like a champion caliber team. Although, the Ramblers fell to the Spartans , coach Tim is quoted as saying that it was the best defensive effort from the Ramblers, yet. The Ramblers Defensive Linemen of the game were Jordan “ICE” Yepez, Tristan “Showtime” Robson and Evin “MTA” Noriega. Offensive linemen of the game were Ray “Carnage” Tirado and Evin “MTA” Noriega. Players of the game were Jordan “Ice” Yepez, Tyler “Terminator” Laniyan, for their contributions on both sides of the field and Ayden “Antman” Ayala for his outstanding defensive performance.
The Parq sports bar & Restaurant Crusaders and the O’Connor Carpets Blue Devils were off this week.
Peewee Division Highlights
In the early game on a windy Saturday, the Scavello’s Black Knights defeated the Ralph Giordano FH Saints 19-7. The Knights came to play, led by backup QB Tyler Vernon. Jayden Ramirez carried the load running for 265 yards and 3 TDs. The offensive line of Anthony Alonso, Denzel Collado, Ndubusi Nwosu, Sean Vega and Jared Perez played as a unit and opened huge holes all day. On defense the Knights made big stops to slow downthe Saints running game. Anthony Alonso and Jayden Ramirez were strong in the middle, and outside pressure was provided by William Lappe, Denzel Collado and Ndubusi Nwosu. Stanley Cruz added a big sack for a 10 yard loss and many tackles. Overall the D held the Saints scoreless in the second half. Judah Encarnacion and Raymond Velez also starred on defense.
For the Saints, on Defense huge tackles by Richard Salonia, Ethan Cruz, Ryan Malloy, Justin Laniyan, Adniel Sanchez & Mykal Callender kept the game close. On Offense, Justin ran for 95 Yards and an extra point, Richard Salonia added 20 rushing yards and 1 Touchdown for 15 yards. Ethan Cruz and Adniel Sanchez had 20 rushing yards between them. Mykhal Callendar had a 10 yard reception. Chelsey Samuel, Gabriel Garrido, Jayden Sawyers and Kiel Leonard all played hard in the effort.
The Schuyler Hill FH Javelins remained undefeated after facing their toughest battle of the season by defeating the Jimmy Ryan’s Rams 19-13. This was a battle for too the end, with first place at stake. The winning score came on the final play of the game on a determined run by Devon Deleon after the Javs recovered a fumble on the Rams final possession with the score tied at 13. Andrew Lane and Christian Bangura added scores on the ground thanks to the grinding blocking of Ismail Shaheed, Liam Conlon, Jayden Brown and Jayden Velez. Defensively the Rams passing attack was extremely efficient against the Javelins, but their ability to stop the run kept the game close. Outstanding on defense were Matthew Familia, Gabriel Green, Logan Laboy, Brandon Smallwood, Liam Conlon and Kenny Clarke.
It was a heartbreaking loss for the Rams who were defeated by a well coached Javelins Team with only 20 seconds left on the clock. As always QB Nicolas Bustamante was well protected by the Oline allowing him to throw for the league best 6th and 7th TD to WR Kenneth Prince. Extra point was scored by Maximus Rivera. The Oline led by Ty Diaz, Frankie Serrano, Matthew Rodriguez Anthony Hernandez and Daniel Ortiz did and excellent job not only protecting the QB but also opening holes for the running game. Defense was stout led by Kenneth Prince, Jayden Diaz, Luis Ferran, Deon Gonzales, Dangelo Cabrera, Xavier Holloway, Frankie Serrano and Nicolas Bustamante.
The defending champions Rams congratulates the Javelins on this well deserved victory.
