Jr Peewee Division Highlights
On a chilly, misty Saturday morning the Cardinal Spellman HS Spartans defeated the Parq Sports Bar & Rest. 27-13. The undefeated Spartans were led this week by Nathaniel Cabrera and his 2 touchdowns. He ran for 62 yards and threw for 12 yds. Maximus Ferran led the team in passing and rushing. He had a 35 yard touchdown throw to Jomar Sanchez for a score. Aydin Mora had 1 touchdown with 66 yards rushing. Davien Saverio had 2 extra points, 6 tackles and 2 sacks. Maddox Burgus had a 16 yard run. Carson Lowe ran for 10 yards and had 2 tackles. Felix Carino had 3 tackles. Jose Surita added 3 tackles, Geraldo Ortiz had 3 tackles and Jeremy Vernon had 2 tackles.
Outstanding players for the Crusaders were Jayden Gonzalez, James Heffernan and Brayden Lungo. Marcus Victoria was a true Warrior, running hard and playing tough D.
The O’Connor Carpets Blue Devils had the off date.
The Middletown Animal Clinic Ramblers squared off against the Crusaders on a more fall-like Sunday morning, with the Ramblers battling only to fall short to the Crusaders. Defensive players of the game for the Ramblers were Tristan “Bumblebee” Yepez and Ayden “Antman” Ayala as they made several TD saving tackles. Defensive lineman of the game was the Defensive End Andrew “The Hulk” Colon. Offensive Lineman of the game was Ray “Carnage” Tirado as he sealed off the edge rushers. Offensive players of the game were Tristan “Juju” Robson aka Showtime, as he passed for 80 yards, rushed for 50, scored an extra point and Jordan “Ice” Yepez as he had 40 receiving yards, rushed for 100 yds and scored 2 touchdowns.
Peewee Division Highlights
The undefeated Schuyler Hill FH Javelins faced off against the feisty Scavello’s on the Island Black Knights, with the Javs coming out on top 24-6. The offensive line work of Jayden Brown, Ismail Shaheed, Matthew Familia, Jayden Nieves and Liam Conlon opened big holes and provided the needed protection all game. The scoring was opened by QB Andrew Lane on a fake left bootleg right. Rookie Devon Deleon added to his already impressive touchdown total on a 50 yard screen pass from QB Lane. Lane then scored again on a QB keeper up the middle. The stingy Javelin defense was led by Kenny Clark. Christian Bangura shut down the middle and Matthew Familia helped cover on the pass defense. Gabriel Green and Logan, Aiden Castellanos, Jayden Ciprian and Brandon Smallwood helped lockdown the Knights.
The Black Knights came to play and gave it everything they had against a powerful Javelins squad. Coach Bloss was proud of the team effort. For the Black Knights, Jayden Ramirez Jayden Cintron gave their all in this one. Ramirez had runs of 50, 45 and 20 yards. He had the only score for the Knights on the 20 yard punishing run. Strong blocking by Sean Vega, Denzel Collado, Anthony Alonso, Ndubusi Nwosu and Mason Lorenzo helped open some holes. The defense made it difficult for the Javelins in this one, a big improvement from the first time they met. Jayden Ramirez and Anthony Alonso made some punishing tackles. The D-line put pressure on the Javelins all game. Outstanding d-lineman were William Lappe, Ndubusi Nwosu, Sean Vega, Judah Encarnacion, Denzel Collado and Tyler Vernon.
The late game saw the Jimmy Ryan’s Bronx Bar & Grill Rams defeat the Ralph Giordano FH Saints in the defensive battle of the season by a score of 6-0. The Rams were able to defeat a great and always improving Saints team. For the Rams QB Nicolas Bustamante threw for his leading 5th TD of the season to WR Kenneth Prince. Extra point was converted by Deon Gonzales. Like always the O-line had the QB well protected led by center Ty Diaz and linemen Frankie Serrano, Tommy Forliano, Xavier Holloway, Daniel Ortiz and Matthew Rodriguez. Defense was tough against the Saints led by Jayden Ramirez, Maximus Rivera, Ephraim Espillat. D’lo Cabrera and Anthony Hernandez. The Rams were still missing RB Luis Ferran but they are hoping to get him back for a critical game against the Javelins.
Highlights for the Saints were: Offense
Ethan Cruz dominated with 90 total rushing yards rushing; Adniel Sanchez with 30 rushing yards
Richard Salonia with 25 rushing yards; Tyler Bobe with 20 Running yards
Pass by Justin Laniyan to Tyler Bobe for 35 yards; Pass by Justin Laniyan to Rich Salonia for 8 yards; Pass by Justin Laniyan to Mykhal Callender for 10 yards. Ryan Malloy played outstanding at center. The Defense had 2 goal line stops led by Tyler Bobe with a sack for a loss of 8 yards. Richard Salonia tackled the running back in the backfield for negative 5 yards.
Ethan Cruz had a forced fumble and Tyler Bobe with the recovery. Mykhal Callender with 3 major defensive tackles at free safety. Justin Laniyan with 2 major defensive tackles.
Adniel Sanchez with 4 assisted tackles at corner. Ryan Malloy with 3 assisted tackles at outside linebacker. Richard Salonia with 3 assisted tackles at the tackle position
The Greenwich Shipping Services 14u Warriors were narrowly defeated by the Bronx Chargers in a Sunday afternoon battle at Pelham Bay Park 7-6. The Warriors played tough defense to hold the Chargers scoreless until the final seconds, when they were able to knock one in as time ran out and made the extra-point conversion. Jason Campbell scored the lone TD for the Warriors. The boys hope to bounce back this coming week.
